Wedding Day Tips
GREAT WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY DOES NO’T JUST HAPPEN
Here are 10 tips to help you get the best results from your photographer.
Establish a timeline of events to be covered on your special day so there no surprises for the photographer and you can relax knowing all your special shots will be taken by the photographer. Make sure you discuss shots that are especially important to you. If you have seen it in a magazine and you want to try it, mention it and we will do our best to get that shot.
After completing a contract with Real Impressions Photography, we will give you a wedding information document to help you select what shots you wish included in your day. Every wedding is unique and Real Impressions Photography’s goal is to keep it that way, this is your day!
Allow the photographer as much time as you can (at least one hour, preferably two) for your bridal portraits before the wedding, including some of the groom & best men and your maid of honor, bridesmaids, mothers & fathers, etc. Rushing this process will not record the real feelings of the day.
A wedding planner can be a real help during your special day. They can keep things flowing smoothly, getting people where they need to be, making your day seem almost seamless. A wedding planner is a great help to both bride and groom and photographer, seeing to it that you have your time for quality portraits.
Assign at least 2 point people (usually the best man & maid of honor) to help the photographer with group photos. They usually know all the relatives and can help get everyone where they need to be, saving lots of time. Also, that way you can be sure that no one is missing from the all important group shots.
Be communicative! If there are certain poses you want (maybe from magazines, brochures or online) then please tell us. We will be glad to pose you for those special shots.
Let your guests know that you are having a professional take pictures during your wedding. A lot of family and guests can now relax knowing your wedding will be covered properly, amateur photographers and enthusiastic guests will know to hold off firing their point-and-shoot camera flash for a minute while the photographer poses and photographs the couple. This will prevent you from losing some great shots!
Have fun. It’s a wedding. It can be stressful, but if you don’t enjoy yourself, the pictures will reflect that. Hopefully you’ve talked with me before hand and can be relaxed in my presence.
Practice smiling. It’s weird to say, but a lot of brides I have met during my consultations have never even thought about having their picture taken by a professional before. Spend some time in front of a mirror smiling. The more you feel relaxed smiling the better the photos will be.
Always give your wedding photographer a hug at the end of the day! They might seem calm and composed throughout your day, because I can assure you a lot of planning, preparing and worrying was and will be done on your behalf before, during and after the wedding.
